Language learning, rethought.
Most apps teach you words. We teach you how a language actually works — one sentence at a time.
Our story
Clozemaster started with a frustration shared by language learners everywhere: you finish a course, you know a few hundred words, and then you hit a wall. Textbooks are boring. Flashcards are tedious. Real content is overwhelming.
We built Clozemaster to fill that gap. The idea is simple — learn vocabulary through real sentences, not isolated word lists. A "cloze test" gives you a sentence with one word missing. You fill in the blank. Your brain does the rest, picking up grammar, usage, and nuance naturally along the way.
What started as a side project has grown into a community of hundreds of thousands of learners across 50+ languages. We're a small, independent team, and we're still driven by the same thing: making it easier (and more fun) to get fluent.
Our approach
Why context beats memorization.
Real sentences, not word lists
Every word you learn appears inside a real sentence. You don't just memorize a translation — you see how the word is actually used, so it sticks.
Ordered by frequency
Sentences are organized by how common the missing word is. You start with the most useful vocabulary and work your way to fluency, not the other way around.
Spaced repetition built in
Sentences come back for review right when you're about to forget them. The system adapts to you — not the other way around.
AI where it helps
Grammar breakdowns, example sentences, and contextual hints — powered by AI, available on demand. Deeper understanding when you want it, out of the way when you don't.
