Junior Ruby on Rails / React Native Developer

Clozemaster is looking for a Junior Ruby on Rails and/or React Native Developer. Minimal experience with one or both? No problem - we're looking to hire someone eager to learn and passionate about helping people learn foreign languages. You bring the willingness to work and learn, and we'll help you take your skills as a developer to the next level, all the while building awesome language learning products and helping thousands of people improve their language skills.

About Clozemaster

Clozemaster is a gamified language-learning platform helping people master vocabulary in over 70 languages. We’re a small, fully remote team passionate about coding, linguistics, and continuous learning.

What You’ll Do

• Develop & Maintain: Build new features and maintain existing functionality in Ruby on Rails and/or React Native.
• Collaborate: Work closely with our product, design, and content teams to create engaging user experiences.
• Troubleshoot & Optimize: Identify performance bottlenecks, fix bugs, and refactor code for readability and efficiency.
• Learn & Grow: Explore new technologies, techniques, and best practices to continuously improve our platform.

Who You Are

• CS Degree Preferred: Or equivalent practical experience.
• Love of Coding: You’re comfortable diving into code, learning quickly, and crafting well-structured solutions.
• Passion for Language Learning: Eager to contribute to a product that helps people worldwide learn new languages.
• Curiosity & Hard Work: You’re self-motivated, proactive, and thrive on continuous learning.
• Team Player: Comfortable working in a small team, communicating clearly, and sharing knowledge openly.
• Confident in the Basics: You have a basic understanding of Git, design patterns, and relational databases.
• Independently Driven: You're comfortable working autonomously, communicating over Slack and Zoom, and shipping regularly.
